There’s Diamonds in Them Hills!

Arkansas: The natural state

By Greg Sims

Known as a Mecca for all things outdoor, its no wonder sports enthusiasts, cyclists, kayakers, fishermen, campers and RVers travel to Arkansas. No need to leave Fido at home as he is welcome in the great outdoors, too!

Lake Ouachita and DeGray Lake

There are two notable lakes: Lake Ouachita and DeGray Lake, both great for fishing, boating and water sports. Lake DeGray is known for large mouth bass and host to the Bass Master tournament each year. If you go be sure to take the guided lake sunset eagle tour with park ranger Jason Parrie, he is truly entertaining and should have his own reality show. DeGray Lake has a 94-room lodge and banquet hall. The state park has 110 campsites and the option of staying in a yurt. Fido is welcome in the campsites.

Lake Ouachita, named one of the cleanest lakes in America is perfect for house boating and to play and relax. The 900-acre Mountain Harbor Resort and Spa offers an enjoyable stay in one of their many cabins and has been awarded the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence and recognized as Best Resort in Arkansas by three of the state’s leading publications. Fido is welcome and even the luxury Harbor North Cottages are pet-friendly! Be sure to bring a puppy gate if you want to give your pet some wandering around room on the spacious desks. Mountain Harbor is very pet-friendly with many of the staff bringing their dogs with them to work.
