Hero Dog Awards let the Dogs Shine

"Dancing with the Stars" contestant and Emmy® Award-winner Carson Kressley hosted the inaugural American Humane Association “Hero Dog Awards” Saturday, October 1st, at the Beverly Hilton.

Following a Friday VIP reception hosted by Kira and Bob Lorsch at Paley Center for Media, Kressley joined a long list of celebrity judges and presenters for the “Hero Dog Awards.” Among many others, Betty White, Julianne Hough, Pauley Perrette, Peter Fonda, Victoria Stilwell, Michael Vartan, Joseph Lawrence, Orlando Brown, Michelle Forbes, Kristin Bauer Van Straten, Jason Lewis, Faith Ford, Tinsley Mortimer, Tara Harper, Jake Pavelka, Orlando Brown and Kim Sill all came out to show their love of four-legged heroes.

According to D Cups Saving Tea Cups founder Kim Sill “ The night was perfect, with one minor glitch, there should have been two big awards one for Ricochet and one for Roselle who ended up winning the ten thousand dollars for her charity.”

A very special award was given to Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley. It was AHA’s first Animal Defender Award for setting examples on how law enforcement can make a difference for those four-legged friends who do not have a voice of their own.

The song Hero’s was written and performed by Orlando Brown at the Friday night reception. Kim Sill, Reno Rankin and Robert Cabral produced the music video, that focuses on inner city life in LA and how to be a Hero for the animals.  See video below.
