Jason Vap, product designer and creator of the petprojekt brand, never planned to launch a line of pet toys. After rescuing Kava, a 3-month old Doberman, he knew he only wanted the best for her, and there was no turning back. Get the full story below:
CINCINNATI (June 11, 2013) – Families come in all shapes and sizes. And according to Jason Vap, creator and lead designer at petprojektTM, http://www.otomik.com/ they also come in different breeds. “I’m a firm believer that we make our own families,” comments Vap, “I just happen to have rescued part of mine.”
Six years ago, when visiting the Southwest Ohio Doberman Rescue, a then three-month old pup crawled into Jason’s lap and into his heart. “I never expected to adopt that day,” confesses Vap, “I was there just testing the waters, but Kava chose me. There was no way I could put the little guy down.”
After finalizing the adoption process, Vap faced many of the same challenges as most new pet parents. There were frequent restless nights during potty and crate training. And when Kava was diagnosed with a thyroid condition, and later with allergies to wheat, corn, gluten and every dog’s favorite summertime snack, grass, there were numerous diet adjustments. Vap took all this in stride, building a strong relationship with Kava along the way.
But finding cool products that were both safe and savvy was especially frustrating for Vap. As an established and renowned toy and product designer for kids’ games and toys, he found it exceedingly difficult to find well-designed products that met his personal expectations in design and safety. That’s what inspired him to launch the brand petprojekt.
With the modern family in mind, Vap designed an extensive line of products that were stylish, fun and durable, but most of all, safe – all the way down to the dyes and squeakers used in the products. From bowls, to leashes, to toys, petprojekt has redefined the safety standards to fit the needs of pets and the expectations of their parents. That’s because all of the petprojekt products are made with 100 percent non-toxic materials, without a trace of phthalates, cadmium, lead, DEHP, heavy metals and BPA. Plus, they’re thoroughly tested by reputable independent organizations to further ensure quality and integrity.
Today, Kava can usually be found by Vap’s side as he works on his next design. And on the not-so-rare occasion the two will be “singing” together. For those looking to adopt, Vap advises that people “know the breed they are looking to adopt or rescue and understand their personality characteristics. The wrong energy level for you or your family doesn’t make a good fit for anyone. With the right match you’ll have a family member that’s always there for you, as long as you’re there for them!”
