Bamboo® Auto-Close Pet Gate: product review

Not a single cell of my dog Mercury’s entire 90 pounds contains even a trace amount of meanness; however, every once in awhile there comes a time when it’s necessary to set boundaries. For instance, although my adorable nephew absolutely adores Mercury, she is still quite a bit larger than him. Wrestling with Papa is not the same as wrestling with a petite 40 pound child. And when the cable guy comes to fix my seemingly endless technological hiccups, Mercury should still be able to enjoy all the action without him tripping over her with each step he takes. Or every Halloween when the lil’ goblins and ghouls come out for treats, they shouldn’t literally be scared off in horror when the gigantic fur ball just wants to play. Oh yes, every once in a while there is a time when a pet gate is definitely needed.

Bamboo’s Auto-Close Pet Gate, due to hit Petco stores this year, features a gravity-driven hinge that allows the gate to close, automatically. Light-weight and durable, it was a snap moving the gate to any doorway, and I loved how I could easily open and close it in either direction. The steel gate fits openings 29.5-32.5” wide and has a height of 29.5” which is perfect for all-sized fidos. Of course, if your Fido is a jumper, you’ll definitely want to make sure the height will fit his or her needs.

Bamboo’s Auto-Close Pet Gate MSRP is $99.99, and I especially like the fact that it can double in use as a child gate for children 6 to 24 months of age. And, with sticky fingers and slobbery drool, it will be like new with easy cleanup using mild soap and a damp cloth. Assembly is as easy as they come and includes all of the necessary tools for installment. I can put it up and take it down in less than 2 minutes. Of course, it’s important to read the warning label and mounting instructions at least the first time you install it. FIDO Friendly gives Bamboo’s Auto-Close Pet Gate 5 paws up!
