Canine couture designer launches line and helps dogs in need: Fashion Fido part one
August 22, 2011 • Trends • Rescue
For the first part of this week, FIDO Friendly magazine is focusing on dog fashions and the revolution it has become. In an effort to go behind the curtain and walk the cat (er, dog) walk, we’re going right to the sources: the designers themselves. Enjoy part one of our series and watch for posts throughout the week.
FIDO Friendly loves when people help dogs while growing their own business. An old adage calls that a “win-win.” When Anastasia Torres-Gil contacted FIDO Friendly about her doggie designer fashions featuring adoptable dogs from her local SPCA, our ears perked up!
Anastacia is the founder and designer of myfavoritecouture.com. She is an artist who has exhibited in New York City as well as the California Bay Area. Having been inspired by stray dog, Coco Chanel, Anastacia founded the line and hasn’t looked back.
“We take the finest designer fabrics, leathers and fashions (including Armani, Louis Vuitton, Badgley Mischka, Vera Wang, Burberry, Ralph Lauren) and repurpose them into couture for your dog,” Torres-Gil shared. Each of her garments is hand sewn and unique, so the quality is impeccable with quantities limited.
So who is she helping in the dog world? Twenty five percent of her proceeds are donated to the Santa Cruz SPCA. We love people helping dogs and doing it in fine fashion!
Currently, she is sewing a bridal gown for a Bichon, whose owners wants the gown to match her own.
