FIDO Friendly reveals new series on Sundance Channel

A new series is coming to the Sundance Channel and FIDO Friendly has the scoop on it.

Quirky” will air Tuesdays at 10 pm EST on Sundance. The second episode will air Tuesday, 09/06/11 at 10 pm est, and features Sara Carpenter, an inventor who creates the Kosuko )a dog leash with an ergonomic handle and built-in bag storage).

Quirky” is a weekly hour-long series that tracks the inner workings of Quirky.com a unique social product development company that is re-engineering the business of innovation.  In the episode, Ben Kaufman, 24-year-old founder of Quirky.com, and his team take viewers through the stages of Sara’s “bright idea.”   As a proud member of Quirky, Sara creates products as a hobby and shares her influence in helping other members bring their products to life. Through the site, (think Facebook for online inventions), Sara was able to develop, produce and distribute her idea with the help of the Quirky online community.

In search of a dog leash that was “durable yet comfortable,” “attractive yet practical” and “safe for both the owner and the dog”, Sara contacted Quirky and created Kosuko (a dog leash with an ergonomic handle and built-in bag storage). Her imagination took off when she began preparing her idea for submission. Once she had been chosen, Sara says watching the idea grow and strengthen as it passed throughout the Quirky community was both thrilling yet felt playfully productive. Ultimately, Sara has seen her dream invention turn into a reality with the production of this product which is now available in stores.

The New York Times recently ran an article about the show and FIDO Friendly magazine has the scoop on its trailer: http://www.sundancechannel.com/quirky/
