Furever Heroes Open Doors for Shelter Pets
April 08, 2019 • Trends • Rescue
California-based Endura Flap, a leading creator in high-quality pet doors is turning to shelters across the country to find exemplary animal adopters, to be named Furever Heroes. The year-long campaign is seeking to find rescuers who go beyond traditional norms to provide the best life possible for their adopted furry family members – the first winner was recently named out of the Woods Humane Society in San Luis Obispo.
Kaori Funahashi was named the first Furever Heroes winner after she adopted a shelter dog who was found wandering the streets, Cappi, a 75 lbs. German Shepard mix. Kaori and her husband, who first met while both training for a triathlon, instantly felt connected to Cappi and felt an urge to give Cappi her furever home. The once-homeless shelter dog, who had a hard time finding a family due to her high-energy, instantly felt at home after joining her new family’s adventurous lifestyle, and has even become an Instagram celebrity in her small town (@happycappiSLO).

Kaori was recently recognized at the Woods Humane Society on Friday, March 15, where she was named a Furever Hero, and was given an Endura Flap pet door.
