Gray in the Beard Can Be Good For Your Soul

FIDO knows that puppies are just darn adorable and the first choice for many pet parents when considering adding a fur baby to the family.  As sweet and special as this can be, it is not always the best choice for everyone.  There are many instances when a Senior Pet may just be the perfect fit for your family.

Our friends Petcurean shared some great thoughts with us as to how to determine if a senior pet is right to join YOUR pack:

Calm and Mellow vs Frantic Energy – while a puppy is sweet they ARE a handful.  An older dog provides friendship and love without needing you to chase them around the house at break neck speed. If you are looking for a buddy to cuddle with as opposed to go hiking with, you may want to consider adopting a senior pet.

Housebroken and Content  -  The puppyhood headaches of housetraining are well behind them, and leisurely walks are just fine.  Senior dogs are likely to already know how to sit and stay as well, and if they still like to play fetch they are probably great with bringing the ball pack as opposed to mischievous puppies who often find it more fun for YOU to come get the ball.

Loving and Thankful – Very often a senior pet is surrendered because their owner has passed on or can no longer take care of them.  By welcoming an older dog into your family you are giving them the stability and family life that they so deserve and they will reward that kindness with their loyalty and love.

FIDO has been a big fan of Petcurean for quite awhile now.  We  just love the passion and purpose they put in to their products, and how they aspire to go above and beyond by creating recipes that nobody has thought of making, while using the finest of ingredients, like premium quality market-fresh meats, veggies, fruits and berries.   See all their yummy recipes, including those made especially for senior dogs, here Petcurean website

We also love their commitment to animal rescue. Given the recent hurricanes, earthquakes and fires – now is a great time to adopt, donate and volunteer/foster. Many local rescues and organizations are seeking help.  Petcurean is proud to sponsor a website that connects rescue groups and animal shelters with a nationwide network of pet fosters and transporters.  See more here.
