Has a dog product or service affected your life?

Remember the movie It’s a Wonderful Life wherein George Bailey, through a series of vignettes flashing back through his life, realizes the impact his presence has had on the lives of many? A ripple effect is what I like to call it.

My ripple effect comes laden with paws. How amazingly fun is it to look back and realize that the business associates you know, the folks with whom you’ve connected through social media, and in some cases the ones you’ve had the pleasure of meeting in person are all a part of the paw-laden ripple effect?

The pet product market is a thriving one: check out the contests and product review section of the FIDO Friendly blog and flip through the pages of your favorite dog-oriented magazine for proof. Dealing with people who are also in the pet product and dog sector is not only fun but icing on the cake for me: I actually LOVE and use many of the products and services from these folks.

Cases in point:

This past week, I found a lump on my 2-1/2-year-old dog’s rear paw. Having had a dog with mast cell cancer, any lump found makes my spine tingle (and not in a good way). Being a worrier (and warrior), my mind raced until the vet opened the next day. Enter the services of VetLive. I was able to reach a vet via internet for a nominal fee and get an expert opinion based on the info I provided. Long story short: I felt a sense of relief and well-informed. The good night’s sleep I received was priceless, so thanks Drs. Jed and Laci for this fab service.

I’m a firm believer and advocate for supplements and vitamins to enhance a dog’s quality of life and well-being, having seen first hand the positive effects. What a joy it is to use a Green Tea supplement as an antioxidant from the folks at i Love Dogs. for my pooch. I met Martha at BlogPaws Ohio in April of 2010. Busy lady and dedicated to her products.

Bloggers are a constant source of information and the sea of skilled dog lovers and experts I deal with daily is in no shortage. The info gleaned from sites like Pet News and Views, DogTipper, Houston Dog Blog, The Pet Book Lady and Life with Dogs, to name a few, is priceless indeed.

I wonder if my own life is making a difference in the lives of any dogs out there and what more I can do. Then I log on to Twitter or Facebook and wade through the many caring folks who are fostering, adopting, assisting and rescuing and I am reminded one person can make a difference.

With the devastation overseas at this time and the threat of flooding and disaster that poked at the west coast (and my east coast backyard) this week, I am grateful to know there are people who make a ripple effect in my life without water.

There are great dog products and a stellar canine community of people out there. Trust in FIDO Friendly to continue helping you find them, review them and embrace them.

Now about that bell ringing….

Question: What dog product or service have you encountered that has made a difference in your life?
