LG LUV250C vacuum cleaner product review: FIDO Friendly magazine

After many years with our Eureka canister, we knew it was time for a new vacuum. With two kitties at home, a pet specific vacuum was mandatory. With all of the choices available, we did our research and decided on the LG.
Our LG arrived and was quite simple to assemble out of the box. After a few quick minutes of assembling the attachments and scanning the manual, we tried out our new vacuum. The very first thing we noticed was the suction power. Our LG Kompressor DualForce suction powered forward through our carpet and pulling back the machine we could feel the suction power. Our LG is equipped with a Motorized Dust Compression System; through the clear window on the front we watched as the dust, dirt and pet hair was swiped with the LG wiper and made into a dust patty (which makes for easy, and fun, disposal).
From LG’s site:
“The KOMPRESSOR® system uses a unique wiper blade within the bagless bin to keep it clean while compressing dust intake. That allows you to store up to 3 times more dirt, dust and pet hair vs. non-compressor models, and means there’s an easy-to-dispose-of cake of dust when you empty it.”
The 30 foot cord makes for vacuum the entire lower level of our home faster. When using the telescopic handle, we have 45 feet of cleaning reach at our disposal. Now we are no longer accidently pulling cords from outlets and finding alternative power outlets to plug into halfway through vacuuming. The transition from carpet to our wood floors was seamless; an easy to see button, conveniently located next to the power switch turns the beater bar on and off with ease.
One of the problems we had with our old Eureka was the fact that the vacuum would chase dirt and dust bunnies across the floor; the particles would scatter from the air the vacuum released rather than being immediately sucked into the bag. My first priority was to discover how the LG performed: Because of LG’s patented DualForce™ suction which uses two additional air pathways to pick up dirt from both sides, in addition to the traditional center section, hardwood floor vacuuming of litter, dust bunnies and dirt was effortless, if not fun!
Another test we gave this LG was the tip test. While extending the telescoping handle to its fullest reach (45 feet!), the pull on the body did not tip the machine over!
The pet hair turbine tool is a nice addition to the two additional on board tools, making cleaning pet hair off of furniture simple; however, this tool is not able to be stored on the vacuum itself. It did perform well on our chairs and mattress, picking up more pet hair than we realized we had accumulated.
The compact, lightweight design makes storage easy. The ergonomic handle telescopes and retracts making the vacuum easier to store in smaller places. At 16.5 pounds, this vacuum isn’t too much lighter than our old Eureka, however, because of the two powerful motors, vacuuming itself is easy.
Most notable attributes include: long, easily extendable telescopic handle which makes vacuuming stairs easy; easy transition from carpet to hardwood floors; 12 AMPS of powerful suction, picking up everything in its path after a single pass cuts our vacuuming time in half; Kompressor System which makes disposal a breeze (no more dust flying everywhere when we empty the canister!); two side doors that open on either side of the bagless canister for easy removal of any pet toys that accidently get sucked in; HEPA filtrations system and a compact design making storage easy. Our only complaint is the lack of onboard storage for the Pet Hair Turbine, which is really small considering the power of this upright.
Considering all of this vacuum’s qualities, cleaning range, and a sleek, compact stylish design (not to mention its beautiful cinnamon coloring), the LG LUV250C is a great buy for anyone looking for power, precision and ease of use for a home with pets.
