Orvis LED Safety Collar Light - FIDO Product Review

Living in the country with acres of alfalfa and the Snake River out our back door, our dogs are certainly in doggy nirvana. That does not mean that they are allowed off leash unless in the fenced backyard. Without the fence, in to the river they would go…every day.

Hard to believe that in southwest Idaho this time of year, it does not get dark until 10:00 p.m. So the last nature call takes place around that time and my husband has the duty.

One night not too long ago, my husband had both boys on a loose leash and a fox caught their attention, so they jerked free and off in to the night they went.

Long story short, panic ensued, it was so dark you could not see your hand in front of our face, never mind a black Lab. It all ended well after 30 minutes of driving around with a flashlight. Moral of the story, I wish I had the LED Safety Collar Light.

The LED Safety Collar Light is impact resistant, and visible up to 3 miles away, this is the light that Danish search-and-rescue teams rely on to keep their dogs visible in dark and dangerous conditions. The low-profile LED safety light fastens anywhere on your dog's collar via a clip or hook-and-loop strap (both included). Switch on by simply rotating the lens for steady and flashing modes. The dog collar safety light is waterproof to 330 feet.

The other night I watched through the window as the boys trotted down the driveway, red and amber lights blinking. It made me smile and made me grateful to know, loose leash or not, these guys would be easy to spot should a game of chase with one of the farm critters occur in the future.

In red, clear, amber. 100,000-hour bulb, 250-hour battery life. Weighs less than 1 oz.
