Petfinder 15th birthday celebration results revealed: Adoption success!

Recently, Petfinder.com launched its first adoption event ever in celebration of its 15th birthday, joining together nearly 1,500 shelters across North America to hold a Big Birthday Adoption Event in their local communities. I’m excited to report that during the three-day event, Petfinder.com exceeded its goal of 15,000 adoptions – finding forever homes for 15,700 adoptable pets!
 
So many people contributed to this amazing achievement, including every shelter or rescue representative who hosted an event, every person who reported, blogged or told their friends, every volunteer, and of course – every family who adopted their new best friend.  As an Internet-based organization that has helped to find homes for more than 17 million pets online, the team is so proud to see that through its amazing network of shelters and rescue groups, they can take their efforts on-the-ground.

This is the first time Petfinder.com has ever launched an on-the-ground adoption event, and it proved to be a success. Setting the goal for 15,000 adoptions in a three-day span, Petfinder.com exceeded this number with 15,700 tracked adoptions, and likely many more.

Nearly 1,500 shelters and rescue groups across North America held an event in their communities, even in Canada and Dominican Republic. Petfinder.com worked closely with groups in 10 major markets to holder larger events (Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Madison, Nashville, San Francisco, Spokane, Toronto, West Palm Beach) and hundreds of others either joined forces with animal adoption organizations in their area or held events at their own facility.

The Chicagoland Jiffy Lube even joined in on the cause hosting more than 20 adoption events at service centers throughout the Chicago area.
