Sandy and the Turtle: We dare you not to laugh at this dog story

Got a funny story about your dog? Something that just stands out as giving you a major case of the LOL's?

Terry from Gulf Coast Cocker Spaniel Rescue shares this tail of "whoa" with us. We dare you not to grin.

Sandy was our very first Cocker in 1985. He was a very strong, independent but lovable boy who gave us hours of joy and made us laugh daily at his antics.

One of his favorite things to do was to sit in front of the sliding glass door and watch the birds and squirrels in the back yard. Sometimes whining as he wanted to chase them

We have a small koi pond on one side of the yard and the center of the yard is all pea gravel since there is too much shade for grass to grow The perimeter is bordered with Aspidistras or Iron Plant as some people call it which makes a great hiding place for our resident 10 inch red eared slider.

The race was on!

Sandy bounded out the door feet barely touching the wood deck while the turtle was scrambling and waddling side to side the last few feet to the pond.

Just as Sandy cleared the deck the turtle made it to the edge of the pond and as Sandy made a lunge for his tail he slid beneath the water.

Undaunted Sandy dove into the pond in hot pursuit bobbing his head under the water in an attempt to snatch the turtle.

The pond water was a boil of frothing white water as the struggle continued when suddenly Sandy emerged screaming in pain as the turtle had a lock on one of his ears.

Sandy shook his head and the turtle fell into the pond.

Sandy retreated to the safety of the house ear bleeding and dripping wet he laid under the table licking his wet paws and nursing his bruised ego.

For the next week Sandy laid at the door contemplating his revenge but the turtle remained hidden another week passed by till one day Sandy got his chance.

The turtle was only half way across the yard and Sandy was too quick for him and headed him off
in the center of the open yard.

With no escape the turtle ducked in side his shell not interested in playing Sandy's silly games which left Sandy totally frustrated circling the turtle and pawing at him to no avail.

What happened next could have made me $10,000 richer if I had a video camera.

Frustrated to the max Sandy assumed the position lifted his leg and peed on the turtle and as he walked away he scratched gravel with his paws covering the turtle in showers of pee gravel.

As he returned to the house head held high in triumph I could barely catch my breath from laughing so hard.
