St. Francis Winery Hosts 12th Annual Blessing of the Animals

FIDO is pleased to share that the St. Francis Winery is hosting their 12th Annual Blessing of the Animals and “Winery Dog of the Year” Contest.  Pet owners and their beloved pets are invited to a special blessing followed by an afternoon of pet-friendly activities and raffle – proceeds from raffle will benefit Sonoma Humane Society.

What: 12th Annual Blessing of the Animals and “Winery Dog of the Year” Contest


When: Sunday, October 7, 2012 - 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Blessing of animals begins promptly at 2 p.m. followed by “Winery Dog of the Year” Contest


Where: St. Francis Winery & Vineyards - 100 Pythian Road at Hwy 12, Santa Rosa, 95409

Details: St. Francis Winery & Vineyards hosts the12th annual Blessing of the Animals in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and the environment. The event will include an animal blessing by Father Patrick Leslie of Star of the Valley Church in Santa Rosa, followed by an afternoon of pet-friendly activities, vendors, exhibitors and pet adoptions. All pets are welcome, and their humans.


A charity raffle will also take place to raise funds for the Sonoma Humane Society. Prizes include gift certificates to Charlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen in Healdsburg and dog-friendly accommodations at Olea Hotel in Glen Ellen, Camellia Inn in Healdsburg, and Dawn Ranch Lodge in Russian River, among others.


Pet owners are welcome to enter their furry pal in the “Winery Dog of the Year” contest. The winning pet will be featured on the St. Francis Winery website and Facebook page. Sign-ups for the contest end at 3 p.m.  In a special guest appearance, Lyon Ranch, an animal rescue and animal assisted therapy organization, will bring two exotic animals – a baby alligator and fox.
