The 75th Annual National Dog Week - Another reason to celebrate your best friend!

Bil-Jac Super Premium Dog Food celebrated canines everywhere during National Dog Week, which ran from September 24 through 28. The 75th Annual National Dog Week was just one more reason to celebrate your best friend by showing them love, affection, and providing the best nutrition for a long and healthy life.  FIDO loves these great tips that Bil-Jac shares with us and wanted to share them with you as well!

Show your doggie some extra love and special care this week with these tips:

• Go on more walks. This goes without saying — walking your dog shows them the world, and keeps them active and healthy.
• Decorate your best friend’s collar — it’s a fun project for kids too! Add buttons, glitter, yarn or felt in fun colors to give your best friend her own special look!
• Snuggle Time: At the end of a long day, nothing says love to your pet like some good old fashioned snuggle time. Your pup will be thrilled with an extra belly rub!
• Visit the dog park — interaction with other dogs can make your best friend’s day — they’ll love playing and burning up extra energy!
• Praise your dog when they’re doing something right — treats are great, but petting and happy phrases like “good girl (or boy)!” will work too!

If you’re considering adopting a new pooch, consider these tips to ensure a safe transition for you and your family, as well as new canine addition:

• Consider the breed, age and size and how he or she will fit with your family.
• Spend time with the dog to get a feel for its energy level and temperament.
• Make sure you and your family fully understands the responsibility – and the fun – that comes with pet ownership. Divide responsibilities for pet care – everyone should take a turn as the pooper scooper!
• Pet-proof your house before your new addition to the family arrives! Puppies and other young pets may require gates near stairs or a crate to sleep in.
• Make sure the trash is securely closed, plants and breakables are stowed away, and there are no cleaning products or chemicals within reach when your new pal arrives.
Keep your pup extra healthy this week with key nutrients:
• Fill up your pup’s bowl with more of the good stuff, with no fillers, and gluten meal.
• Choose a food, like Bil-Jac, that takes extra care in sourcing, handling and processing to help protect heat sensitive amino acids, which are key to your dog’s health.
• If your pup has a sensitive tummy, try a food that’s easy on their digestive system, like Sensitive Solutions. The exclusive Nutri-Lock slow-cook method allows much more fresh chicken to be used.

National Dog Week was created to educate all dog owners on their responsibilities to their pets and to their communities. Bil-Jac Super Premium Dog Food, based in Medina, OH, has been providing the highest quality and freshest ingredients available to American families and their pets for 60 years.
