The mission of Friends of Orange County’s Homeless Pets (FOCHP) is to make homeless and unwanted pets more adoptable and provide them the opportunity to find lifelong families. Their mission is accomplished through training, veterinary services, and spay and neuter assistance. Fostering is an important part of FOCHP, as they believe a home environment brings out the true personality of an animal and gives them the opportunity to match personalities for the best adoption opportunity and forever home for their rescues. FOCHP also has a Whistlestop Program that provides safe, immediate temporary boarding for surrendered pets until a foster home can be arranged. During the temporary Whistlestop boarding period, the pet is assessed, socialized with other animals, given medical attention if necessary and allowed to adjust in a caring environment until a loving foster home becomes available. FOCHP is operated solely by volunteers and 100 percent of donations received go directly back to the needs of their rescued animals.
