Rescue: The Rutland County Humane Society
The Rutland County Humane Society Society is dedicated to advocating for and working towards a responsible and humane community. RCHS provides shelter and adoption opportunities for pets who are homeless and promotes animal welfare through community programs that benefit both animals and people. Founded in 1958, the Rutland County Humane Society provides shelter to over 1,200 companion animals a year, keeping adoptable animals as long as necessary to place them in loving, appropriate homes. The The Rutland County Humane Society also serves as the coordinator for abuse and neglect and takes in animals seized in criminal cases; as well as works to control the population of un-owned or feral cats, educates adults and children about animal welfare issues, and acts as an information and referral service on animal related issues including lost and found pets. rchsvt.org.
