If you’re looking for a vacation that your dog will enjoy every bit as much as you do, Canine Camp Getaway of NY might be the perfect bucket list getaway for both of you!

Held twice a year in scenic (or, if you’re a dog, scent-ic) Lake George, New York, set against the stunning backdrop of the Adirondack Mountains, Canine Camp Getaway offers a wealth of activities you can enjoy with your four-legged best friend.

These include agility, hiking, swimming (yes, the pool is dog friendly!), lure coursing, Frisbee, flyball, barn hunt, DOGA (dog yoga), canine freestyle dancing, K9 nose work, tricks classes, Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog preparation and testing, Canine CPR, a Silent Auction to support animal charities, seminars by veterinarians and trainers, classes on canine nutrition, special senior dog classes, and so much more!

But while activities like hiking, Barks & Crafts, Game Show Night and Dog Bingo may bring back happy memories of childhood camp, there are no bunk beds here. Instead, guests enjoy motel-style accommodations with air conditioning, private baths, three meals daily (with full wait service) and nightly Yappy Hour in the dog-friendly lounge.

There’s even an onsite spa where human guests can enjoy a massage or a mani/pedi while their dogs rest up between activities.

With nearly 300 acres of space, there’s plenty of room for the dogs to explore, whether hiking along woodsy trails or curling up on a blanket in front of the duck pond, taking in the quiet beauty of nature. Additionally, the town, just a few minutes’ drive away, offers lovely shops (many of which are dog friendly), along with golfing, boating, antiquing and mini cruises around the lake.

The lake even has a “dog beach” where dogs can splash around with their fellow canines.

One of the world’s largest hot air balloon festivals is also held concurrent with the September Getaway in neighboring Glens Falls, where early risers can check out the action before starting their day.

Canine Camp Getaway’s Fall Camp will be held September 18-21. For more information, visit or call 877-592-2674.
