FIDO Friendly celebrates Your Dog is Worth it Too with L’Oreal: 2011 event

Your dog is worth it, too. Those are the words echoed on Saturday before a crowd of thousands as they passed through the pink ribbon laden gates.
On the grounds of the L’Oreal's plant in Cranbury, New Jersey, hope came alive, cancer research and funding became the focus, and all in the name of doggone fun.
Every year for the past eight years, at the command of super organizer Rich Werner, the grounds of L’Oreal open to dog lovers, rescuers and vendors in the name of funding for breast cancer.
FIDO Friendly magazine is proud to be a sponsor of this spectacular event for many years. What makes this gargantuan Fido-“boneanza” even more unique is its organizers: NONE of them are party planners, get together gurus nor paid event organizers. They are people with a vision to eradicate breast cancer, bring dog lovers together and fight the good fight together.
Why breast cancer: Years ago, team L’Oreal lost two co-workers to the disease. No doubt, we all know someone who has been affected by breast cancer – an aunt, co-worker, sister, perhaps yourself. At this stage over $600,000 has been raised in the pink ribbon’s honor.
Aside from the mega bling pre-registrants and day-of participants receive (major L’Oreal products, bling galore), the event is home to such fun events as NJ State Bone Stacking contest, dog high jump, and our favorite, the Pooch Limbo!!! We get to “judge” this each year, and it is so much fun!
From grooming to dog washing, celebs to rubber duckie racing, dog dock diving to FIDO Friendly fun and frolics, this event had it all.
We had the booth next to FIDO Friendly magazine cover dog, Oogy. Oogy's dad, Larry Levin, signed books and Oogy was on hand, er paw, to greet his fans. What a loving boy and inspiration.
Check out our video footage and then log on for more info. As of this point, we are not certain if there will be a 9th year, but in the meantime, Dogtoberfest happens on the grounds on September 17 from 9 am to 4 pm – featuring hay races, duck races, pumpkin bowling, dog egg races, and more. With vendors and animal rescue groups galore, Fido is welcome in the name of raising money and awareness for breast cancer.
