FIDO Friendly Top 10 Moments of 2011

The ending of one year and the turning of the calendar into a new year; a time for hope and reflection, renewal and looking both forward and back.
Some of our favorite FIDO Friendly moments this year, presented countdown style:
10. Winning the Dogtime Media Best Dog Blog of the Year Award: We love wagging our tail for this great honor from the largest online vertical community for pet lovers. We also were able to donate money to some of our favorite dog rescue groups as part of the winnings.
9. Meeting Oogy. Former bait dog who has inspired millions to overcome challenges, his best-selling author dad penned a book and we featured Oogy on one of our covers this year. To meet this resilient canine, surviving warrior, and light of hope was such a joy.
8. Getting our Licks on Route 66: Our annual trek across the Mother Road with North Shore Animal League spawned even more pet adoptions. Armed with animals and a tour bus, the drivers and volunteers visited city after city in an effort to get homeless pets the forever homes they truly deserve. During the third annual tour, 408 animals got their forever homes this time around.
7, Interviewing a Pet Rescue Hero: Yours truly interviewed Petfinder founder, Betsy Banks Saul, and what an enlightening, enjoyable, and educational experience. The interview appeared in our holiday issue and the video lives on in YouTube viewing infamy.
6. Turning 50 Issues Old and Celebrating with Golden Girl and cover girl, Betty White: We turned 50 issues young this summer and wow have our tails been wagging. We have a fresh new look to the magazine and anticipate the next 50 issues and beyond.
5. Our Fans Helped Donate 10,000 Meals to Shelter Pets: So touched are we to this day, that words alone cannot express our gratitude. In conjunction with Iams Home 4 the Holidays, we were able to donate 10,000 meals to shelter pets.
4. Appearing on TV To Talk Dog Travel and Dog Products: Yours truly has been a busy Bowser once again, and what joy to be able to share the word of dog via the magic of television. From Connecticut to New York and back again, we love talking dogs.

3. BlogPaws Presentation: We love meeting fellow bloggers and those involved in pet rescue, welfare and ooze the word of dog as we do. I was able to present once again at this annual conference for bloggers where only a hurricane was able to send us home early. Other than that, nothing could keep us from this annual conference.
2. Walking the Floor of Westminster: Since I was a little girl, this is a show I pined to attend. How amazing then, to get to have a full circle moment and document some of it for FIDO Friendly via the magic of video camera.
1. Meeting Fellow Dog Travelers: Our roads always bring us back to the millions of people traveling with their dogs, and throughout 2011 we have been touched, inspired, and motivated by all the dog travelers from sea to shining sea. With that, 2012 promises to be a spectacular journey. Leave No Dog Behind.™
