Located in the tony neighborhood of West Hollywood, the Mondrian is a luxury boutique hotel that is very Fido-friendly. As soon as you step paws through the thirty-foot mahogany doors and in to the renovated lobby, you know that you are in for a special treat. Leave all the hustle and bustle outside and allow the calmness that is Mondrian to take over.
Our spacious one-bedroom suite had a dynamite view of downtown Los Angeles, one that was made prettier at dusk. The dark-out window shades allowed you to sleep in or be greeted with the dawn. Mirrored surfaces, stark white furnishings, textured wallpaper, crisp cotton linens and an oversized two-sided mirror that reveals a flat-screen TV. The gleaming Silestone tiled bathroom offers a rainfall shower to restore and bath products from Ciel to refresh.

With a separate living room and bedroom, the 750 square feet of living space has a wonderful flow and the wet bar has plenty of space for coffee drinks and wine while providing a tall table for dining or aperitifs. The suite is very spacious and you could certainly play a game of hide and seek with Fido should you so desire.

Traveling with your dog is always rewarding when the property has an on-sight restaurant where both you AND Fido are welcome. So our stay at the Mondrian was made even sweeter with the evening dining al fresco at Ivory on Sunset.

Our rescue dog, Honey enjoyed the ambiance and after taking in the view, fell asleep on my husbands lap allowing us to start our epicurean adventure with House Bread focaccia, ciabatta, parmesan grissini and Warm Olives in citrus oil. Olives were hearty and the fresh bread soaked up the warm oil.

To say the Seared Halibut melted in my mouth is an understatement. Cooked to perfection, I savored every morsel. My husband had the eight-ounce filet served with marble potatoes, wilted spinach and truffle zabaglione. Chef was not happy with the first go around, so it took a little extra time for the filet to be presented, medium well and butter flied. That’s not an easy task, but here, the attention to detail and exceeding customer’s expectations is not the exception, but the rule.

With sleepy dog tucked under my arm and a VERY small doggy bag, we headed to our room with stunning views and called it a good night.
