Pets of the Homeless – Ceys to a New Home

FIDO was so happy to hear this recent story of success from our friends at Pets of the Homeless – read on to see how Ceys was able to get to a new home:

A social worker for the homeless called Pets of the Homeless (POTH)  http://www.petsofthehomeless.org/  because she had a patient that needed help with her dog.  The homeless woman was about to be put into housing but her dog needed to go into a shelter for a brief time so she could get back on her feet.  Her dog "Ceys" did not do very well in the shelter.  He had a lot of anxiety issues and as a result when he was crated would rub his nose raw on the sides of the crate.  Pets of the Homeless considered this an emergency case because the dog was hurting himself.  POTH paid for temporary foster care for seven days.

On August 10th the woman was able to leave the homeless shelter, and get into an apartment that allowed dogs. Ceys was finally able to return to his mommy.

Between 5% to 10% of homeless people have dogs and/or cats. In some areas of the country the rate is as high as 24%.
